Birthdays!

September 10th fell on a Friday this year so we decided that Corey can have his real birthday and we would celebrate Elijah's on Saturday. So Friday night we went to Mastro's Steakhouse with our really good friends, Frank & Devan for a fancy dinner with NO KIDS! It was Fabulous! We always have so much fun with them but the amazing dinner just made the night that much better.
On Saturday we had a picnic at a cute little park for Elijah's birthday. I didn't want to have a huge party for his first birthday and risk him getting overwhelmed by all the people so it was mostly family and a few close friends. It was so much fun! We had a great spot right next to the playground, the bigger kids played and rode their scooters while the little ones had tons of open space to roam about. The weather was really weird for the beginning of September, it was cold and really windy! Which turned out to be perfect for the kites that I gave the kids instead of goodie bags! I loved looking across the grass and seeing all of the kids learning how to fly kites with their parents, such a fun thing to do with your kids that we definately don't do enough! (the parents loved the idea of no candy bags to take home too)
Most importantly, Elijah had a blast. I think Karina cried most of her first birthday party because of all the people constantly surrounding her & absolutely freaked when we sang Happy Birthday but not Elijah! He roamed around, let everyone hold and play with him and absolutely loved being sang to while he demolished his little cake.
He was spoiled with a ton of fun toys and very studly clothes, we are so blessed to have so many people around us that love our kids and share these special times with.

Happy 1st Birthday Elijah James!

He did not hesitate to dig in!

He even used his sippy cup to finish off the destruction

He didn't understand why he couldn't grab
those things up in the air?

Just like any other man, he loves the remote control so
Grandma Mary & PaPa Tony got him his own!
