We started the summer off with my family's "Annual RedNeck Indian Camping Trip"! And what exactly is a "RedNeck Indian" you may be asking? It's ME! (and all my cousins) My Mom is Delaware Indian and she married a "white man" making me half Indian & half "white" (French, Irish & Czech to be more exact). My Mom is one of four sisters, three of which also married "white men" ... is Pocahantas & John Smith popping in your head? My Grandpa would always say, "look at all these white kids running around, that's what happens when my girls marry those white boys" - very funny coming from the man who looks like he just walked off an Indian Reservation! We are all very proud of our Indian heritage so it became the joke that we are "RedNeck Indians". Every since we were little, we would go camping at Camanche Lake up north near where all my family lives. Except when we were little, our parents would throw us in those tiny little orange teepee looking tents that you froze in at night and completely melted in as soon as the sun came up, we had one tiny little boat to take turns going out on and we ate hamburger & hot dogs all week long. Once we all started having kids, we carried on the tradition of the annual camping trip but we definately kicked it up a notch ... no 'roughing' it for us!

We had SO much fun! A week of camping with a 9 month old that is crawling makes for a lot of work but thankfully there were plenty of kids to keep Elijah busy. There was on average 30 of us camping, some would come for the day & some stayed for part of the week but the picture above is of who stayed the whole time. The adults spent the days floating in the lake to stay cool in the 105* heat while all the kids wakeboarded, knee boarded, went tubing & jet skiing until they dropped. I love that there are so many of us and we can all keep this awesome family tradition going.
